The process of urbanization has led to the emergence of an increasing number of young people living alone in cities. They are detached from familiar social and living environments and try to integrate into new cultures, a process that often does require companionship and support. This piece responds to the growing need for companionship among young people who live alone in urban in the context of urbanization.
This project comes from thinking about living alone. Furniture is those that accompany solitary people for the longest time in a living place. Tianyi Zhou tried to explore the interaction between users and furniture to make furniture more like a "family member" and provide emotional companionship in addition to basic function. Inspired by the interaction between humans and puppies, it has undergone several iterations – from initially emulating a puppy's outlook to simulating the body structure of a puppy, then focus on tactile sensations and interactive engagement in the end.
